Modern Slavery Statement

Scientia Innovation Ltd

This statement is made pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and constitutes Scientia Innovation Ltd's slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ending 2026. Scientia Innovation Ltd is registered in England and Wales, with delivery operations in Sri Lanka.

1. Introduction

Scientia Innovation Ltd ("Scientia Innovation", "we", "us" or "our") is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business dealings and relationships. We recognise that all businesses have an obligation to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking, and we will do everything in our power to prevent it within our business and across the supply chains through which we operate.

Modern slavery can take many forms, including the trafficking of people, forced labour, servitude, and slavery. As a technology and operations outsourcing company operating across multiple jurisdictions — with our registered and head office in the United Kingdom and our delivery teams based in Sri Lanka — we are acutely aware of our responsibilities in relation to cross-border labour practices and the need for robust safeguards at all levels of our operations.

This statement sets out the steps Scientia Innovation has taken and continues to take to ensure that modern slavery and human trafficking are not present in our business or supply chains. Maintaining the trust of our clients, staff, and partners is fundamental to our continued success.

2. Our Organisation and Structure

Scientia Innovation Ltd is registered in England and Wales and operates as a technology and operations outsourcing business. Our registered and head office is located in the United Kingdom, from which we manage client relationships, business development, account management, and overall governance.

Our service delivery teams are based in Sri Lanka, where we employ specialist professionals across software engineering, technology, finance, and operations. All Sri Lanka-based staff are employed directly by Scientia Innovation or through a carefully managed local entity structure, and are subject to the same ethical standards and employment policies as our UK-based team.

We serve business clients across the United Kingdom and internationally, spanning sectors including technology, financial services, professional services, and the public sector.

3. Our Services

Scientia Innovation provides the following outsourced technology and operations services to business clients:

  • Software Engineering — full-cycle architecture, development, QA, and deployment across web, mobile, and cloud platforms;
  • AI & Automation — LLM integration, automation platforms, workflow integration, and intelligent document processing;
  • Cyber Security — SOC operations, threat management, security audits, and compliance support;
  • Data Engineering & Insights — Azure Data, Power BI, machine learning, and analytics delivery;
  • Technical Support — L1–L3 helpdesk, ITSM, and 24/7 support operations; and
  • Finance & Accounting Support — bookkeeping, payroll processing, compliance, and financial reporting.

The provision of Finance & Accounting Support services, delivered by our Sri Lanka-based team under UK oversight, is a core part of our offering. We apply the same rigorous employment and ethical standards to this function as to all other service lines.

4. Our Supply Chains

Our supply chains include, but are not limited to:

  • technology infrastructure and software vendors (cloud platforms, development tools, security software);
  • facilities management and office services in both the UK and Sri Lanka;
  • professional services providers including legal, accounting, and HR advisers;
  • recruitment and staffing partners used to source specialist talent in the UK and Sri Lanka; and
  • subcontractors or specialist consultants engaged to support specific client projects.

We recognise that supply chains operating across multiple countries, including Sri Lanka, carry a higher inherent risk profile in relation to labour standards. We take a proactive approach to managing this risk and require all suppliers and business partners to adhere to our Supplier Code of Conduct.

5. Our Policies on Slavery and Human Trafficking

Scientia Innovation maintains a suite of policies that underpin our commitment to preventing modern slavery. These include our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy, Supplier Code of Conduct, Whistleblowing Policy, Equality and Inclusion Policy, and Recruitment and Employment Policy.

Our Supplier Code of Conduct applies to all suppliers in both the UK and Sri Lanka and requires that:

  • all workers are free to choose their employment and to leave upon reasonable notice;
  • all workers are provided with a clear written contract in a language they understand, complying with local law;
  • all workers are treated with dignity and respect, free from discrimination, harassment, or victimisation;
  • all applicable laws on wages, working hours, and minimum age are observed in every country of operation;
  • no person under the age of 16 is employed, and no person under 18 undertakes hazardous or night work;
  • International Labour Organization (ILO) standards are upheld in full; and
  • all slavery and human trafficking laws are complied with, including the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015, both in the UK and in Sri Lanka.

6. Due Diligence

Scientia Innovation has implemented a due diligence process to identify, assess, and mitigate modern slavery risks across our business and supply chains. Given that a significant portion of our workforce is based in Sri Lanka, our due diligence process is specifically designed to address cross-border labour risks. Our approach includes:

  • screening all new suppliers in both the UK and Sri Lanka against our Supplier Code of Conduct prior to engagement;
  • incorporating modern slavery compliance obligations into all supplier and subcontractor contracts;
  • verifying the identity, age, and right to work of all employees and contractors, including those based in Sri Lanka;
  • conducting direct and regular engagement with our Sri Lanka-based team leads to monitor working conditions and employee welfare;
  • periodic review of employment practices, payroll, and working hours for our Sri Lanka operations;
  • ensuring all Sri Lanka-based staff receive contracts in both English and Sinhala or Tamil as appropriate; and
  • maintaining confidential reporting channels for all staff regardless of location.

All employees and contractors, whether based in the UK or Sri Lanka, have access to confidential reporting mechanisms. Our Whistleblowing Policy guarantees that disclosures made in good faith are treated confidentially and that those who report concerns are protected from retaliation.

7. Risk Assessment

We assess our overall modern slavery risk as moderate, reflecting the following factors:

Higher Risk Areas

  • Offshore delivery operations in Sri Lanka, where labour market standards and regulatory environments differ from the UK;
  • use of local recruitment and staffing partners in Sri Lanka whose practices require ongoing oversight;
  • facilities and support services procurement in Sri Lanka; and
  • lower tiers of the supply chain, particularly where local subcontractors are involved.

Lower Risk Areas

  • UK-based operations, which are subject to robust domestic employment law;
  • direct employment of our Sri Lanka delivery team rather than reliance on labour intermediaries; and
  • professional and skilled service delivery, where workers are typically formally educated and contracted.

We continue to monitor developments in modern slavery risk, including guidance from the UK Government and the International Labour Organization, and update our assessment processes accordingly.

8. Training and Awareness

All Scientia Innovation employees, whether based in the UK or Sri Lanka, are expected to act with integrity and in accordance with applicable law, including the Modern Slavery Act 2015. Our training programme includes:

  • a mandatory induction module on modern slavery and human trafficking for all new employees in both locations;
  • specific training for managers and those involved in procurement, recruitment, or supplier management on identifying and responding to indicators of exploitation;
  • ongoing awareness communications covering signs of modern slavery, labour trafficking, and forced labour; and
  • dedicated guidance for our UK management team on overseeing offshore operations responsibly.

Training materials are made available in English and, where appropriate, in Sinhala or Tamil to ensure accessibility for all Sri Lanka-based employees.

9. Measuring Our Effectiveness

To assess the effectiveness of our actions, Scientia Innovation monitors the following indicators:

  • completion rates for modern slavery training across all UK and Sri Lanka-based staff;
  • number of suppliers in both jurisdictions reviewed against our Supplier Code of Conduct;
  • results of periodic employment condition reviews for our Sri Lanka operations;
  • number of concerns raised through whistleblowing or reporting channels; and
  • any confirmed incidents of modern slavery identified and remediation actions taken.
